Music first captured his imagination when he picked up his mother’s nylon-string classical guitar at the age of 14. It was then that young James realized that music was his calling. Later, after moving to Los Angeles, he signed a contract with Atlantic Records. The song “Infinity,” which was included in his debut album Feel Something, became one of the artist’s notable works.

Speaking about the meaning of the song, the composition is a heartfelt love ballad in which James Young expresses his boundless devotion to his beloved woman. He calls her his "paradise", emphasizing that his soul aspires to her, and he feels happy that she was chosen by fate as his companion. James Young contributed to “Infinity” as a multi-instrumentalist, playing drums, guitar, and keyboards, and mixing the track himself. The only other person credited is Michele Mancini, the mastering engineer. Here’s how he described his approach:

“I asked myself, ‘Can I do this?’ The hardest part was demanding the best from myself. I wasn’t going to compromise or lower the bar. I’ve been thinking a lot about how to present my work in a full album format for the last few years, especially from a production standpoint.”

“I think a lot of people, especially those who are more traditional or listen to music with particular attention, often have an aversion to pop music – and the reasons for this can be different! However, I have personally come to the conclusion that different genres are essentially different platforms for self-expression. Pop music just happens to be one of the biggest, maybe even the biggest; it has incredible reach.

And rather than seeing it as something negative or as a departure from the classical understanding of music and songwriting, I prefer to see it as a positive: hey, here's a huge microphone in front of you, and you have a chance to say pretty much whatever you want. Pop music as a style and genre is a kind of filter.

It does add complexity, but there are plenty of pop songs that don’t feel artificial or forced. I think songs like that are an example of how sometimes art just happens – and sometimes it takes the form of pop music and sometimes it doesn’t. That doesn’t automatically make them better or worse; ultimately, you can get the same message across no matter the genre.”
