How James Brown created the song " I Got You (I Feel Good)"
Song “I Got You (I Feel Good)” American singer James Brown won the top of the charts and, perhaps, became the hallmark of the singer, his most recognizable work.
History of creation and meaning of the song I Got You (I Feel Good) performed by James Brown

In the lyrics of” I Got You (I Feel Good)", James Brown expresses the joy of finding love. His vocal part is full of emotional shouts and exclamations, emphasizing the overwhelming feeling. The song, imbued with euphoria from love ("I feel good next to you", "it's good that I have you"), is so charged with positive emotions that one of the Malaysian TV channels uses it for the daily start of broadcasting, reinforcing its slogan "Channel of good mood".
Песня “I Got You (I Feel Good)” is a reinterpretation of the song "I Found You", recorded and released by Yvonne Fair in 1962. “I Found You” was produced by James Brown himself. At the time, Yvonne Fair was one of the backing vocalists in Brown's touring band.
The release history of "I Got You (I Feel Good)" is very confusing. Recorded by Brown in September 1964, the song, along with other tracks, was transferred to Smash Records, which intended to release it as a single. However, these plans did not come to fruition due to a lawsuit from King Records, the label with which Brown collaborated. In October 1964, a court ruled that Smash Records could only release instrumental versions of Brown's recordings, and all master tapes with his vocals would become the property of King Records.
Despite the withdrawal of the song, Brown actively promoted it, performing at concerts. In May 1965, at Criteria Studios, Brown recorded a new version of the song, which became his first gold single. Released by King Records, the song topped the R&B chart, remaining at the top for six weeks, and reached number three on the Hot 100, which was Brown's best result on that chart.
“I Feel Good " already has all the characteristics of funk. This style is distinguished, first of all, by a hard rhythm with an emphasis on the first beat and a gradual acceleration of the tempo. Secondly, all instrumental parts are rhythmically shifted relative to the main rhythm, that is, each instrument performs its own unique rhythmic figure. As a result, the bass guitar, freed from the dictates of the drums, comes to the fore. And, of course, it is impossible not to mention the wind instruments, so beloved by Brown.
In 2000, “I Got You (I Feel Good)” was highly rated by VH1, ranked 21st in the list of “100 greatest songs of rock and roll” and 75th position in the rating of " 100 greatest dance songs”, becoming one of seven songs included in both lists. In 2004, Rolling Stone magazine featured “I Got You (I Feel Good)"ranked 78th on their list of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time.
